Meteorite: You've come a long way baby!
We're over the moon for our newest inlay material - Meteorite. A meteorite ring is the perfect way to hold a little cosmos close to your heart! Steely-gray with glowing flecks of supernova, a meteorite ring is unique and eye-catching.
Our Meteorite rings are handcrafted using jewelry grade pieces of Gibeon Meteorite. The Gibeon meteorite traveled through space for over four billion years before it crashed to earth as a fire ball. It was located in 1836 near Gibeon, Namibia, in South-West Africa from which it gains its name.
Gibeon meteorite is unique because it actually contains bits of supernova, Palladium-107, the second longest lived isotope. The intricate crystalline patterns within Gibeon meteorites are known as "Widmanstatten patterns", formed over millions of years of cooling.
Estimates have it that in the vacuum of Space it took about 1000 years for these molten pieces of planetary core to cool by just 1 degree Celsius!
Remember that each titanium ring we make is handcrafted to order so we can set an inlay of meteorite in almost any custom titanium ring! Pinstriped edges? Sure! Glowing pink interior? Sure!
We hope you'll be inspired...
