Anatomy of a Minter and Richter Ring

Each band begins with a billet of pure titanium. What form, shape, and design it takes begins in your mind’s eye. To understand the level of detail and choice available, we have broken a band down into its common components.

Ring Size

Standard ring sizes are based on the inner circumference of the ring measured in millimeters. In the US and Canada, ring sizes are specified using a numerical scale with quarter and half sizes. An increase of a full size is an increase of 0.032 inch inch (0.8128 mm) in diameter, or roughly 1/10 of an inch in the interior circumference. In Ireland, the UK and Australia, ring sizes are specified using an alphabetical scale, with half sizes. International Ring Size Conversion Chart.

Ring Width

Ring width is the measurement of the thickness of a ring’s wall (how much of  your finger it will cover) in millimeters or inches. The standard wedding band width is 6.4mm. For bands wider than 7.9mm, we suggest going up a 1/4 to 1/2 size from your regular ring size.

Inlay of a Ring

An inlay is a separate material set within a titanium band. Whether you desire the organic character of  hardwood, the smooth veneer of water buffalo horn, or the glowing strands of opalescent resin, an inlay can add dimension and color to your titanium band. The width of each inlay can be specified to the millimeter, and centered, offset or paired.

Bevel/Edge Treatment

The edge is the section of ring on either side of an inlay. An edge is “beveled” when it is raised at an angle.  The width of the edges can be specified to the millimeter, and made flat, rounded or pinstriped. All of our bands are rounded on the interior edge for a comfort fit.

Finish

Finish is the final step in ring production, and refers to the method by which the ring’s surface is polished or brushed to give it a certain effect. Reflective, dark, matte, or textured, finishes frame the ring.
